This is Willie Daly. On first sight just a normal guy with a beard and white long hair who runs a horse riding centre outside Ennistymon, Ireland. But, that’s not all. Willie is one of the last two true ‘matchmakers’ from Ireland, who match people during the famous Matchmaking Festival. During this annual festival in September people from all over the world travel to the little village of Lisdoonvarna, hoping they will find the match of their life - for the rest of their lives…

The Program

Willie Daly is the main character in the new Dutch television series “The Irish Matchmaker”. In eight episodes Willie will try to use his knowledge and experience as a matchmaker to match three Dutch single girls to three Irish men. These girls travel in a campervan throughout the south-west of Ireland in order to meet the love of their life. In every city or village they stop, Willie has arranged three Irish men; for each one of girls.

Each Irish guy will spend an entire day doing all kinds of activities, which the Dutch girl selects for him in order to get to know each other better. They do this by organizing a day trip through the surroundings of the village, where they picnic, take a boat trip, climb on steep cliffs or just relax on a small and romantic beach. After this day of dating the guys bring our Dutch girls back to their B&B. This is the moment where the girls say goodbye for the night or decide to spend rest of the evening with them…

The next day, our three girls get together to evaluate their dates. In front of the B&B, the girls and guys meet for the last time. This is the moment where they both get the chance to tell each other what they thought of the date. Will they meet again or is this really good-bye?

After the girls say goodbye to their dates, they head for their campervan and will travel through the countryside of Ireland for the next town or village where the Matchmaker has arranged three new guys.

After 7 episodes of (un)successful dating, the series come to a final, eighth, episode. In the centre of Lisdoonvarna, where the matchmaking festival takes place, the campervan stops. Each girl gets to invite two of the seven guys they dated before. Now it’s time to make their final decision; who is their Irish Lover?
