Get your skates on in Limerick
 
It is that time of year again and what better way to celebrate then to put your skates on and get on the ice. Christmas time is all about getting into the festive spirit and enjoying steaming mugs of mulled wine whilst browsing the Christmas markets, or wrapping up warm to go and visit the town’s brightly decorated Christmas tree. Ice-skating is another of those long standing winter traditions and what better place to indulge in some skating fun then at the Limerick Ice rink. This icy festive event will run from the 10th of December through to the 10th of January and can be found in Arthur’s Quay Park right in the centre of Limerick City. It is a great family day out for both young and old alike, and the new location means that it is now easy to find the rink and to park the car.
 
Limerick on ice is now in it’s sixth year and is offering a great range of deals to entice visitors to come and have a go. The ice rink is housed in a large marquee, which has magnificent glass walls. Inside there is also an ice café where visitors will be able to purchase tea or coffee to warm themselves up before getting on the ice. For those who just wish to watch others carve up the ice, festive snacks are also available to keep up the energy levels. Ice skating is a sport that all can enjoy, from those who are proficient to those who are just putting on their skating boots for the first time. As a traditional holiday past time the ice rink really does bringing a live the magic of this exciting winter holiday. Limerick City has also been decorated with lights and other Christmas decorations to get all those who are there in the festive spirit.
 
All that is on offer in this fantastic City will not disappoint visitors who come to Limerick. There is a good array of shops offering a wise selection of items, from clothes to home-wares, and everything in between. After a hard days shopping visitors can then relax in one of the numerous restaurants, bars and pubs that are available within short walking distance, or retire to a comfy room in one of the city’s hotels or guest houses.
 
As the third largest city in the Republic of Ireland and the principal city in County Limerick, Limerick has good transport links, which will get visitors there and away easily. For those wishing to fly to Limerick the closest airport is located in Shannon, and offers both international and national flights from across Ireland. 

Car rental is available and can be booked in advanced for visitors wishing to explore both Limerick and the surrounding area. Driving in Limerick is easy to do, and from the 4th to the 19th of December three thousand of the City’ s on-street car parking spaces will be free on all Friday and Saturday afternoons from 2pm. So get your skates on and get down to Limerick.
